Questions, questions...

What kind of camera equipment do you use?
I am (still) using my Nikon D70 digital SLR camera. I know, I know. Only 6 megapixels. But it’s a great camera. And I love my Nikon FM2 film camera. I also have a Graphic View 4x5 camera with a 150mm Rodenstock lens in mint condition, which fate or the gods or both have kept with me despite my attempts to sell it on Ebay during times of financial desperation. Thank fate and the gods or both that few people even know what kind of camera it is, and fewer still are interested in handing over $800 for it when they can get a decent 6 megapixel digital camera for less these days.

Are any of your photographs for sale?
The portraits aren't for sale. But all the others are. Please e-mail me and I can give you more information.

What is your favorite kind of photography?
I have a longstanding interest in fine art and photojournalistic portraiture. Photos with people in them are far more interesting than not. And I think in stories, or series. A picture may well tell a story, but a series of photos may tell a more complete story.

I like your documentary style. Will you shoot my (my cousin’s, my brother’s, my friends ex-husband’s) wedding?
No.

You seem to have a lot of black and white photos. Do you also shoot in color?
I can and I do but I seem to be more sensitive to light and shadow than to saturation and hue. Black and white is a personal preference. It’s the way God made me.

Who are your favorite photographers?
Robert Frank. Lee Friedlander. Gary Winogrand. Mary Ellen Mark. Annie Leibovitz is my hero.

What kind of movies do you like?
All of them. I can always get something out of any movie. Even bad ones.

When you were a little kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
A veterinarian of course.

How old are you?
None of your business. Next question.

Why is the sky blue?
Because molecules in the air scatter blue light more than they do red light. I don’t know. Something like that.

What is your favorite color?
Blue. Green. No wait…

What is your favorite word?
Serendipity.

Do you have any cats?
I have three cats. Vinny, Yodie and Scruffoulopoulos, otherwise known as Scruffy. Vinny was designated as a “senior cat” last year. I don’t know. She doesn’t appear to be very “senior” when she’s running up the oak tree in my back yard. She does look kind of funny though because well, she’s fat, with a strong resemblance to Shamu. Or maybe she’s just poofy. Yodie is a princess kitty. Pretty and fluffy and friendly and the other cats hate her. Scruffy is also fluffy and soft. She would make a great pair of mittens. Just kidding. She has 24 toes, a very cute genetic defect as it turns out. Okay I think that’s enough questions. Go look at the pictures. Or watch the news. Or vote or something. E-mail me if you have any other questions.
